Meet Believe In Yourself

My mother had written an article about me, about my rough beginning.  However, it wasn't until I was 38 years old, when my father told me about it.   When I confronted my mom, she cried because I was never supposed to know about it.  She told me that she was two weeks away from destroying the article because was afraid of how I would handle it.  I must admit, it was pretty heavy.   I mean, how does a mother begin to explain to her child that she will have to be in special education classes and speech therapy, indefinitely?  I was not at all, upset with her. If anything, I am grateful that I did not learn about this growing up.  Thinking that my future was in question, I would have used it as a crutch and just given up.   Instead, I was able to look back at my accomplishments and truly appreciate how far I had come, despite my medical challenges.   I hope the article inspires you as much as it inspired me.  Afterall, it is what inspired me to write my first book, "Too Afraid to Talk".  I truly feel that if my books help even one child, then I did not struggle my whole life in vain.    In addition, I am honored to have been able to follow both of my parents' footsteps; my mother's, as a writer and my father's, the honor of visiting  schools, to share his music as a folksinger/Entertainer, with his well-known song, Little Bunny Foo Foo.  Please enjoy my website.
